Rick & Morty co-creator Dan Harmon has revealed a scary piece of news for the show’s fans: the Adult Swim network hasn’t actually ordered Rick & Morty season 4.
Many assumed that Harmon – along with the other co-creator Justin Roiland, and the rest of the show’s staff – was already hard at work on Rick & Morty season 4. One fan reached out in a not very polite way to urge Harmon to hurry up the process of producing season 4, which prompted Harmon to spill beans on Twitter:
I hear ya, tough spot. On one hand, it can be challenging, especially with crippling lazy alcoholism, to write a show that hasn’t been ordered by a network. On the other hand, the thought that fans like you pay the price…I mean…I’m gonna grab a drink https://t.co/mvn9nthxCE

So, Adult Swim hasn’t renewed Rick & Morty yet, and resultantly Harmon and company have not properly begun work on season 4. If you were hoping for a batch of new episodes to arrive in your eyeballs soon, think again.
Harmon and Roiland famously took their time, rather than rushing to a deadline, to ensure that Rick & Morty season 3 lived up to the stellar reputation of the previous episodes. When you combine that form with the fact that season 4 hasn’t even been confirmed by the network yet, it seems safe to assume that we won’t be seeing new Rick & Morty episodes for quite some time.
More as we hear it.
