Game of Thrones star Jerome Flynn has revealed that viewers should expect “twists and turns for all the characters” in the third season of Ripper Street.
Starring Matthew Macfadyen as Detective Inspector Reid, Jerome Flynn as the newly promoted Detective Inspector Bennet Drake, Adam Rothenberg as Captain Homer Jackson, and MyAnna Buring as Long Susan, Season 3 launches exclusively on Amazon Prime Instant Video next month.
Eight new episodes will be released every Friday night from 14 November.
Matthew Macfadyen commented: “Delighted and excited to be back for a third series of Ripper. Thank you to Amazon, thank you to our fans who wanted more, and thank you to our wonderful writers and producers for giving us the most thoroughly brilliant, gripping and heart-rending opening episodes.”
MyAnna Buring added: “The scripts and story lines have been allowed to be bigger and better and I am so very excited to have been a part of this show and what definitely feels like our best season yet.”
Season 3 will later be broadcast on BBC One and BBC America in 2015.
Amazon members will be able to view a special extended ‘Amazon cut’ of all eight episodes, featuring exclusive scenes which will not be shown on the BBC due to their time constraints.
Adam Rothenberg commented: “It was brilliant to get back on set with Matthew, Jerome, MyAnna, Charlene and the rest of the crew… It has been exciting to learn that Richard Warlow and Toby Finlay whose scripts are always superlative, thanks to the ‘Amazon Cut’ have been able to push our storylines still further. They have made the world of Ripper Street an even more vibrant and crucially enthralling place for viewers to inhabit.”
Jerome Flynn teased: “It is brilliant to be coming back to a new series of Ripper Street, this time with the added vigour provided by the creative freedom afforded by Amazon Prime Instant’s cut. There are many great stories and twists and turns for all the characters. The Drake we meet in Episode 1 has certainly been on a journey since viewers last saw him.”
