The new series of Riviera is well into production – and Sky has released a first teaser trailer…
It looks like we won’t now see the return of Riviera to our screens until early next year, as production continues on the returning drama. But Sky is keen to whet people’s appetites for the return of its steamiest – and most successful – home-grown drama. As such, the first trailer has just been released.
It looks like this…
It’s going to give us all more of what we love,y according to the blurb. We’ll find that out next year…
May 2018
Filming is now underway on the second series of Riviera. The steamy drama is filming in Nice at the moment.
Julia Stiles is reprising the lead role of Georgina in the new run of the show. The first series became Sky Atlantic’s biggest home-grown drama hit. Which had nothing to do with all the aforementioned steamy stuff.
The new series is expected to premiere later this year.
November 2017
In spite of the show’s creator Neil Jordan pretty much disowning it shortly after transmission began, Riviera became a smash hit for Sky Atlantic earlier this year.
The show’s core ingredients of crime, betrayal and, well, humping, struck a chord with viewers, and it’s little surprise given the raging audience success of the show that Sky wanted more. Now, season two has been formally confirmed.
Julia Stiles has signed on to return to the show, and she’ll be joined by Lena Olin, Dimitri Leonidas and Roxane Duran.
There’s little sign of Jordan coming back though, which is a surprise to pretty much nobody.
As to what to expect?
“Viewers will be transported back to the stunning sun-soaked setting of the Côte D’Azur, to see what lies ahead for the Clios family after the explosively thrilling finale to series on”, Sky’s announcement has teased.
Which tells you precisely nothing, of course. Expect Riviera season 2 towards the middle of 2018.
