Further to the news that Sky has renewed Riviera for a second series, we’ve now learned that another famous face will be joining the steamy drama: Will Arnett, stepping out the comedic sandbox that he mainly plays in these days, has signed up for a recurring role in Riviera series 2.
Arnett has been prolific on the small and big screens over the last few years, playing LEGO Batman in multiple movies, Gob Bluth in Arrested Development and Vernon Fenwick in both Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films. That’s not to mention the two Netflix shows that he leads, Flaked and BoJack Horseman.
Alongside Arnett, Juliet Stevenson (Truly, Madly, Deeply), Poppy Delevingne (Kingsman: The Golden Circle), Jack Fox (Kids in Love), and Grégory Fitoussi (World War Z) are also joining the cast of Riviera‘s second series.
Variety said this about how the new characters will slot into the show:
“The new season picks up where the first left off. Arnett plays Georgina’s [Julia Stiles] mysterious and charming uncle, someone who sees through her armour. A new family of English aristocrats is introduced, with Stevenson as Lady Cassandra Eltham, who is joined on the Riviera by her children, the stylish Daphne (Delevingne) and the brooding Nico (Fox).”
Stiles herself said this:
“It’s thrilling to return to the Riviera and to welcome such incredible new talent to the show. Georgina’s past catches up to her in Season 2 and the drama only intensifies. Will is perfectly cast in that role, and I am excited to explore how far Georgina will go to protect her new life.”
Riviera series 2 is filming now for a release later this year, so we’ll keep you posted as more news comes to light.
