Russian Doll season 2 is officially happening

Netflix has confirmed that Russian Doll season 2 is officially on the way, with Natasha Lyonne set to return to the role of Nadia Vulvokov. Here’s everything we know…

Variety broke the news that Netflix has ordered Russian Doll season 2, reporting that the next batch of time-twisting drama will consist of eight episodes.

The show was created by Natasha Lyonne, Amy Poehler and Leslye Headland, all of whom will return to executive produce this second run. Lyonne and Headland will write and direct.

Although the ending of the first season didn’t overtly seem to set up a sequel, with Natasha breaking out of her time loop and seeming to find a happy ending, the plan has always been for the show to run for three seasons.

“We pitched Netflix three seasons of the most bonkers, heartfelt, passionate, this-is-what-we-truly-feel-like-is-our-story-to-tell idea,” Headland told The Hollywood Reporter in January. “And they said: ‘Great, the more of that, the better. The more you guys this can be, the better. Here are the resources and the support — take off.'”

Now we know that the second chapter of that plan is coming to fruition, and we look forward to finding out what it entails. Here’s hoping it can live up to that brilliant debut season.

We don’t have a Russian Doll season 2 release yet, but we’ll let you know when we do.
