USA Networks in America has done quite well out of a TV show based on the fairly forgettable movie, Shooter. So much so that the second season has been in production, and it premiered in the US just over a week ago.
But that second season of the show has now been curtailed, due to an injury to its leading man.
Ryan Phillippe has been headlining the TV take on Shooter, and earlier this month, he broke his leg whilst away from the set. Not a simple break, either. Surgery has been required, and a longer than expected priod of recuperation is involved.
The accident was described as a freak one, and at the time, work was ongoing on episode nine of the show. The full order was for ten episodes, but Phillippe’s injury is such that USA Networks is calling it a day with what it has already. Only eight episodes of Shooter season two will be made.
Whether the show returns for a third season remains unknown at the moment. The ratings for season two will have a lot to say about that…
