Written by Ben Court and Caroline Ip (Whitechapel), the five-part drama also stars Sophie Okonedo (Doctor Who), Peter Firth (Spooks) and Aidan Gillen (Queer as Folk).
Speaking exclusively to CultBox, Spruell revealed: “…it’s got a very strange tone. It’s not like anything I’ve read in a while. It’s just a little bit off, it’s a bit spooky. It’s set in the country and it’s a bit like a weird The Killing.”
He continued: “It’s got a really weird unique tone and it’s the kind of thing that could go really well or could not get enough viewers to make its mark, but you’ve got a try to produce new ideas. There’s a murder in a village and it’s about the village’s façade falling away.”
Spruell will next be seen starring as Finn alongside Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Kristen Stewart (Twilight) in this summer’s epic adventure movie Snow White and the Huntsman, released in UK cinemas on 1st June.
