Also in the cast are Lily Sacofsky, Lucy Cohu, Gary Beadle, Mark Bonnar, Ronald Pickup and Rose Ayling-Ellis. Greg Austin, Jordan Coulson, Matthew James Thomas and Fode Simbo are also on board.
More on the drama as we hear it…
April 2018
Stephen Poliakoff’s new project, the drama Summer Of Rockets, is pressing ahead as a BBC drama. Poliakoff will be writing and directing the drama, which will run for six hour-long episodes.
Furthermore, this very week the drama has now started filming in and around the London area. The shoot is expected to last some 16 weeks.
It’s being overseen by Little Island Productions, and the synopsis reads as follows:
Set in the UK during 1957, the narrative plays out against the backdrop of the Cold War and touches on major events such as the launching of the first Soviet ballistic missile, the testing of Britain’s first hydrogen bomb and the emergence of rock ‘n’ roll music.
Casting hasn’t yet been announced for the drama. We’d expect there’s a reasonable chance we’ll get it by the end of the year, though, or early next.
