The Batman – the Dark Knight’s next solo film, which Matt Reeves is directing – won’t go in front of the cameras until 2019, a fresh rumour has suggested.
Reeves, director of War For The Planet Of The Apes, has been working on the script for The Batman for some time now. The internet has been awash with rumours the entire time, with the matter of whether or not Ben Affleck will appear in the movie being a particularly massive talking point.
Many were assuming that the film would start shooting this year, but the scoop-mongers at Heroic Hollywood have heard otherwise. According to their sources, The Batman won’t go into production until 2019, meaning that it “probably won’t be released until 2020 or 2021”.
This makes a certain amount of sense, considering that DC Entertainment already has a lot on its plate this year: the 2018 shooting schedule for this comics-inspired branch of Warner Bros already includes Shazam (shooting now), Wonder Woman 2 (cast currently being assembled) and Todd Phillips’ Joker origin movie (rumoured to shoot before the end of the year).
Last we heard, Reeves was still working on the script for The Batman. As we hear more about the project’s development, we’ll be sure to let you know.
