The Expanse has found a new home and dodged its cancellation, in a piece of news that is bound to thrill the show’s fans. A couple of weeks after Syfy cancelled their acclaimed series, Amazon has swooped in to pick up The Expanse and set season 4 into motion.
Amazon chief Jeff Bezos broke the news at the National Space Society’s International Space Development Conference in Los Angeles, where he was taking part in a Q&A session. The Expanse cast and crew were present at the event, having hosted a panel of their own shortly before.
Here’s what Bezos said, followed by a video of him saying it:
“I was talking to the cast half an hour ago, before the break for dinner started. I was telling them that we are working hard at Amazon to save The Expanse but it wasn’t a done deal yet. During dinner, ten minutes ago, I just got word that The Expanse is saved. The show is extraordinary and these guys are unbelievably talented.”
I’ll just let him say it…#TheExpanse#RocinanteIsSafe#BreakingNews

After the whooping and cheering subsided, Bezos stressed that The Expanse “will be a Prime Original in the coming seasons.”
The Expanse season 3 continues to air on Syfy, but after that, the show will move to Amazon. Exciting times!
More as we hear it.
