The next comic book property to become a Netflix series is The Magic Order, with Aquaman‘s James Wan helping with the transition. Here’s everything you need know…
Created by writer Mark Millar back in 2017, with help from artist Olivier Coipel, The Magic Order comics were actually published by Netflix in the first place. It shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that they’re plotting a live-action adaptation for the streaming service, then.
An official press release about the comics describes the story thusly:
“We live in a world where we’ve never seen a monster and these people are the reason we sleep safely in our beds. Magic meets the mob in The Magic Order, as five families of magicians sworn to protect our world for generations must battle an enemy who’s picking them off one by one. By day they live among us as our neighbors, friends and co-workers, but by night they are the sorcerers, magicians and wizards that protect us from the forces of darkness…unless the darkness gets them first.
Collider reports that James Wan will serve as an executive producer on the TV version and direct the first episode, with Mark Millar also executive producing.
Lindsey Beer, who previously wrote Sierra Burgess Is A Loser for Netflix, will serve as showrunner.
We’ll bring you more news about the series as we hear it.
