The Musketeers: the full boxset is heading to BBC iPlayer

Posted Filed under

The BBC is once again bolstering the box sets section of its iPlayer, with the complete collection of The Musketeers episodes heading to the Beeb’s online platform.

The Musketeers debuted on BBC One in January 2014, and it ended up running for three series before coming to a close in August 2016. All three of these series have become available on BBC iPlayer today.

The series was created by Adrian Hodges, and the cast included Tom Burke as Athos, Santiago Cabrera as Aramis, Howard Charles as Porthos, Luke Pasqualino as d’Artagnan, Tamla Kari as Constance, Maimie McCoy as Milady de Winter, Ryan Gage as King Louis XIII and Alexandra Dowling as Queen Anne.

Peter Capaldi pops up in the first series as Cardinal Richelieu. And here’s a fun fact for you: Capaldi was on the set of The Musketeers when he found out he’d been cast as the lead in Doctor Who. Capaldi’s casting as The Doctor meant that Hodges and company had to recalibrate their plans for The Musketeers series 2.

Or if you’re in the mood for a different sort of period piece, BBC One’s 2016 adaptation of War & Peace – which boasted Paul Dano, Lily James and James Norton among its cast – has also popped up in full on the iPlayer today.

We’ll bring you more updates on the BBC iPlayer as and when we hear them.
