The Walking Dead season 9: Ryan Hurst nabs villainous role

Posted Filed under

Sons Of Anarchy‘s Ryan Hurst has signed up for a villainous role in The Walking Dead season 9. He’ll play Beta, who’s known to fans of the comics as the second-in-command of The Whisperers.

AMC has cast a few members of this scary new group already. Samantha Morton of Fantastic Beasts is set to play Alpha, the leader of the crew. And Cassidy McClincy of Ozark has signed up to portray Lydia, Alpha’s daughter.

The Whisperers are one of the more creepy communities from The Walking Dead comics. They’re known for wearing zombie skin on top of their own in order to blend in with the undead by masking their scent.

Beta is particularly fond of his zombie face mask, and refuses to take it off at any point. Even in private, he keeps his own face under wraps. This should be an interesting role for Hurst to tackle, then.

As well as playing Opie in Sons Of Anarchy, Hurst has also appeared in Bates Motel, Outsiders, Remember The Titans, Bosch, King & Maxwell, The Ladykillers, Saving Private Ryan and We Were Soldiers. We look forward to seeing what he brings to The Walking Dead fold.

The Walking Dead season 9 will see Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan depart their roles, so now would be a great time for some new faces to become fan favourite characters.

We’ll bring you more Walking Dead news as we hear it.
