In the US this week, the final episode of The X-Files season 11 was screened, generating quite a reaction online. It’s said to be the last episode for Gillian Anderson, who confirmed last year her plan to quit the show. With Anderson leaving, the expectation was that The X-Files would come to an end.
Now, though, the show’s creator, Chris Carter, has confirmed that he still sees a way forward for it.
“I think there will be more X-Files”, he said in an interview with Den Of Geek. “They haven’t locked up the file cabinet in Mulder’s office. There’s still more stories to be told”.
Seemingly confirming that he doesn’t expected Anderson to reverse her decision, he added that “it’s not the same X-Files without Mulder and Scully. In the same breath, there is a lot of life left in the show. I think you haven’t seen the end”.
Fox has yet to confirm if it’s ordered another season of the show. The series is currently screening on Channel Five over here.
