Titans, the gritty TV adaptation of the Teen Titans comics, has cast Esai Morales as Deathstroke for its upcoming second season. Here’s everything we know about the casting, and who Deathstroke is…
First created by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez in 1980, for The New Teen Titans comics, the deadly assassin Deathstroke (real name Slade Wilson) has a long history of battling this young heroic team. He’s also popped up in live-action media on numerous occasions, with Manu Bennett playing one version of the character in the Arrow TV show and Joe Manganiello portraying another take on Deathstroke in the post-credits tag on the Justice League movie.
Esai Morales, who will take on the role in Titans, has recently been seen on TV in Ozark, Mozark In The Jungle and How To Get Away With Murder. He was also seen in the films Bad Boys and La Bamba.
And, if you’re after more Deathstroke details, Collider shared this official description of the character, as he will appear in Titans:
“Slade Wilson is known for being DC’s deadliest assassin. While serving his country, Slade became an elite soldier before government testing enhanced his physiology to near superhuman levels, putting him on a path of darkness and revenge. To his family, Slade is a father and husband, but to the rest of the world, he is feared by many as the infamous Deathstroke; selling his services to the highest bidder as the ruthless assassin that never gives up and never misses.”
Titans airs on DC Universe in the US, and Netflix in the UK.
