Lost River, the directorial debut of Ryan Gosling, will now be released in UK cinemas later this year.

Featuring Doctor Who star Matt Smith alongside Iain De Caestecker (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Eva Mendes and Christina Hendricks (Mad Men), the movie premiered in May last year at the Cannes Film Festival and it was reported in December that the movie was not going to be released in cinemas.

Lost River will now arrive in the UK on 24 April.

Update [13.3.2015]: Lost River will now arrive in the UK two weeks earlier than previously announced, on 10 April.

The official synopsis reads: “Set against the surreal dreamscape of a vanishing city, Billy, a single mother of two, is swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld while her teenage son Bones discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town. Both Billy and Bones must dive deep into the mystery if their family is to survive.”

Smith will also be seen in the new Terminator movie this summer.
