Zapped cancelled after three seasons

Dave has cancelled Zapped, its fantasy comedy starring The Inbetweeners‘ James Buckley, after three seasons. Here’s everything you need to know about the Zapped cancellation…

Also starring Sharon Rooney, Paul Kaye, Ken Collard and Louis Emerick, the show launched in 2016. Over three seasons, 21 episodes were produced and broadcast by Dave.

Series three wrapped up its run in November last year, and there had already been rumblings suggesting that there wouldn’t be a fourth batch of episodes.

And now, British Comedy Guide has shared this statement from the UKTV network: “Zapped has been integral to helping Dave grow its UKTV Original series but all good things must come to an end and we have no current plans for a fourth series.”

The writers of the show added this:

“We’ve had so many lovely messages since the announcement, it’s been great to hear from all the Muntyites out there.

“We’re gutted that we won’t get to make more Zapped, but maybe the show will become a massive cult sleeper hit, and in ten years’ time could be revived by, say, the Dave channel? We’ve had so much fun making it, we’re just so sorry that we’ve had to put all our ideas for Series 4 in a big bin and set fire to them.

“By the way, if anyone reading this runs a TV channel that currently has a half-hour space in the schedule for a fantasy sitcom, do contact us at your earliest convenience. Till then, many thanks to all the brilliant people who supported us, from UKTV, Baby Cow and Black Dog Television through to our incredible cast and crew.

“Pears be with you,

“Dan, Will and Paul.”

The show was written by Dan Gaster, Will Ing and Paul Powell, with Dave Lambert on directing duties.
