The new series promises guest turns from Amanda Abbington, Anita Dobson, Phil Daniels and Mathew Horne.
With Inside No. 9 landing its latest series on April 27th, the BBC have released the series trailer.
Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith’s enduring comedy anthology series is on its eighth run and promises another impressive guest cast.
We already anticipate an On the Buses spoof, thanks to this early image, but we’ve been in the dark as to what else they have planned. Until now…
Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton say:
“We are thrilled to invite viewers inside a new set of funny and frightening number 9s; take your shoes off, make yourself at home and switch your devices to Do Not Disturb. Well it might work…”
The roster of guests for this run includes Amanda Abbington, Anita Dobson, Asim Chaudhry, Phil Daniels, Claire Rushbrook, Frances Barber, Leon Herbert, Mathew Horne, Menyee Lai, Moyo Akandé, Robin Askwith, Samantha Spiro, Sheila Reid and Ayda Kiiza.
Only one more series of Inside No. 9 to come…
While this is the eighth series, we already know that the show has a ninth in the works. However, reports suggest that the show may “pause” after that.
In December, Steve Pemberton told The Sun:
“We feel it is a good time to pause Inside No. 9 after we finish filming season 9 next year. We’re not saying it’s over for good, after all, The League of Gentlemen came back, but we won’t be looking to make any more episodes for the time being.”
American adaptation
All is not lost though! There’s an American adaptation of the show coming, courtesy of the ad-supported streamer Amazon Freevee, from the team behind the US version of Ghosts. Pemberton and Shearsmith are executive producers on the project.
Of all the television formats to cross the pond, we’d imagine the show’s anthology format and potential for reeling in guest stars gives it an excellent chance of finding an audience.
We’ll keep you posted – and in the meantime, you can find the entire series so far on BBC iPlayer.
