Jack Reacher on Prime Video

Jack Reacher rates high in the Nielsens, but does it beat Ozark?

Posted Filed under

New series Reacher hit nearly two billion minutes viewed in the latest Nielsens — does that let Jack Reacher take the top spot from Ozark?

Looking at the Nielsen data for January 31 – February 6 shows five shows with over one billion minutes viewing. Last week we celebrated the continued success of Ozark, and suggested this week:

Netflix data shows All of Us are Dead ruling the roost, though even while the latest season is dropping, Ozark has several seasons in the Netflix top 10, which the Nielsens amalgamate into one. Kirsten Bell should rise and we look forward to seeing how it competes with Boba Fett. Add Sweet Magnolias and Raising Dion and we have a packed week to savour.

Given events happening in the world, we’ve decided to dive straight into the data. We hope to have our ‘witty’ asides return at some stage.

The Nielsen data itself

This is a few weeks ago (January 31 – February 6) and US only. We add the columns marked ‘*’.

Jack Reacher does well, but does new series Reacher beat Ozark?

With a magnificent 1.8 billion minutes, Reacher can feel peeved at only making #2. As we suspected, with the Nielsen ratings adding up all seasons, Ozark still held onto the top spot.

If you read our recent piece on binge watchingReacher clearly went for a big release, and even with the novel’s vast popularity, was only able to make second.

What else happened

Raising Dion
Raising Dion (not a link to the trailer, we just like the picture!)

As we’d expected from the Netflix data, this was a good week for Sweet Magnolias and sci-fi series Raising Dion. Kirsten Bell actually almost doubled the audience watch with The Woman In The House Across The Street From The Girl In The Windows, while The Book of Boba Fett made a far less impressive rise.

Sci-fi spy story In From the Cold is holding a decent audience, and it’s possibly our surprise good watch among recent shows we’d not been focused on.

What next?

If we look ahead to the following week’s Netflix data, we expect Inventing Anna to shine, and Love is Blind to join the top of the table. Big binged shows tend to peak on week 2, so we also won’t be surprised to see Reacher top the table. We’re also on the lookout for the finale of The Book of Boba Fett.

As ever we’ll be back next time with our take on the numbers. Until then, stay safe.
