Jason Manford is obviously (if the jumper is anything to go by) a big fan of Christmas, so what better way to mark the season than a quest for the UK’s biggest Elf fan?
He’s doing this on Sky Cinema, and their press release reveals the reasons why…
According to research conducted on 2,000 UK adults who celebrate the season, some 76% say Christmas Spirit is more needed than ever. The easiest way to raise the mood is Christmas movies, with Will Ferrel’s Elf voted the top choice (27%) to get people feeling Christmassy. Sky lists lots of findings from the survey, and films most recommended include the first Home Alone film and Love Actually, as well as some classics like Miracle on 34th street. We were surprised to see the must-watch Raymond Briggs classic The Snowman only made sixth spot, and Cultbox Christmas favourite Die Hard only just made it into the top ten with 10% of votes.
Back to Elf; it will be showing on Sky Cinema from December 8, so plenty of time to watch before the day itself.
Sky Cinema is also looking for the UK’s biggest Elf fan, and there’s a competition to win an Elf-inspired home transformation kit, to turn their home into a festive wonderland both inside and out. The kit will take cues from the film’s candy cane forest, Gimbles department store and the elves’ workshop. Winners will also receive £3,000 towards their favourite festive goodies, guaranteed to add sparkle to even the most lacklustre Christmas cheer.
Jason Manford gives some clues on how to win this great prize:
“I’m a huge fan of all things Christmas and Elf so I’m very excited about this competition! With this prize, more is more. Think paper chains, a sea of swirly twirly gumdrops, plenty of six-inch ribbon curls and seven levels of the candy cane forest. We’re hoping that we’ll inject enough Christmas spirit into your home to put a smile on even the most ‘Walter’ like of faces.
“Elf was voted the most quoted Christmas film, so I want to hear your take on the classic. Show us why Elf is everything to you, impress us with your ability to down a bottle of fizzy soda, wow us with your singing, prove how much you enjoy spaghetti with maple syrup, or show off your superior Christmas crafting skills. Extra points if you can draw a portrait of me on an Etch-a-sketch.”
You can enter by visiting @SkyTV social channels and simply post a comment, video or photo demonstrating why you’re the UK’s biggest Elf fan and deserve to win this mega prize.
Watch here as Jason eats his favourite Elf-inspired dish of Spaghetti and Maple syrup, rides his favourite Elf-sized tricycle and attempts to decorate his house in a way that even Buddy would be proud of.
The search opens on Wednesday 11th November and will end at midnight on Sunday 22nd November. Full details of the competitions and Ts & Cs available at www.elfeverything.sky.com .
