Charlie Higson’s Jekyll and Hyde (2015) comes to Britbox this December, among a whole host of other shows
It ran for one season and was mired in controversy over depictions of violence, but there’s another chance to catch the series on Britbox from December 10. Jekyll and Hyde starred Tom Bateman as Dr Robert Jekyll and Hyde, and Richard E Grant as Sir Roger Bulstrode, Strictly Come Dancing 2013 runner-up Natalie Gumede as Isabella “Bella” Charming and Guardians of the Galaxy actor Enzo Cilenti as Captain Dance. It was shown before the watershed on Sunday evenings, and the first episode attracted over 800 complaints. We’re intrigued to see how a more informed audience reacts.
We’ve also noted a few other classics coming to Britbox, including the Film 4 comedy Time Bandits (1981), which stars John Cleese and Sean Connery. Fans of Scarlett Johansson might want to watch Under the Skin (2013). Both films arrive today (December 1).
TV series of interest include: Heartbeat series 1-3 on December 3, also the day when the complete run of Minder arrives. The series actually ran 15 years from 1979-94, bringing the misadventures of Arthur Daley (George Cole) and his minder Terry (Dennis Waterman). There’s more nostalgia on December 10 when Roger Moore and Tony Curtis arrive as The Persuaders. Add Auf Wiedersehen Pet: Seasons 1 and 2, Hornblower and James Bolam in the whole Beiderbecke Collection there’s plenty to watch alongside the Christmas Specials!
