Killing Eve season 3 is officially happening, with a new showrunner

BBC America has renewed Killing Eve for its third season, and the series will get its third showrunner as a result. Here’s everything you need to know about the renewal…

Phoebe Waller-Bridge created the show, based on Luke Jennings’ Codename Villanelle novella series, back in 2016. She helmed the show’s first season, before handing the baton to Emerald Fennell for season 2.  And now, Suzanne Heathcote will take charge for Killing Eve season 3.

Heathcote has previous TV writing experience on Fear The Walking Dead. She wrote episodes and served as an executive story editor on AMC’s zombie spinoff. Before that, she penned a brace of short films.

The news of Killing Eve‘s renewal for season 3 came on the same day that season 2 premiered in the US. Sarah Barnett, a big boss at AMC Networks (the co-owners of BBC America), offered this statement:

“We love having this show and the brilliant Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer and Fiona Shaw on our networks. Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Emerald Fennell have delivered two addictively entertaining seasons. As we did last year, we’re renewing Killing Eve right out of the gate, now with Suzanne Heathcote as lead writer, as a sign of confidence – we adore this show as much as our fans do. Killing Eve doesn’t do anything in a templated way; we love giving opportunity to three genius women to make their mark.”

We don’t yet know when Killing Eve season 2 will premiere in the UK, but we’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
