What If? season 2 dropped an episode every day for nine days?
With its multiverse of unfamiliar takes on the MCU’s heroes, 2021’s first outing for the animated What If? anthology series was great fun.
The show gave us different takes on familiar characters. We saw a universe where Peggy Carter became the super-soldier, rather than Steve Rogers, and one where T’Challa became Star Lord.
Many MCU stars reprised their character’s voices for the show, which drew disparate alternate heroes together for a showdown against a triumphant Ultron. Back in July 2022, a second and third run of the animated anthology was confirmed.
Now, there’s a trailer and synopsis for What If…? Season 2, although it doesn’t give much away:
Season 2 of Marvel Studios’ imaginative and captivating “What If…?” series continues the journey as The Watcher guides viewers again through the vast multiverse, introducing brand new and familiar faces throughout the MCU. The series questions, revisits and twists classic Marvel Cinematic moments with an incredible voice cast that includes a host of stars who are reprising their iconic roles. Featuring fan-favorite characters this season like Nebula, Hela and Happy Hogan.
It appears we’ll also see more of Black Widow, Hank Pym and Strange Supreme. Plus, versions of The Winter Soldier, Gamora and Tony Stark too. In terms of villainy, there’s Thor’s deadly sister Hela.
Jeffery Wright returns as The Watcher, with the voice cast including Hayley Atwell, Lake Bell and Josh Keaton.
Bryan Andrews returns as director, with AC Andrews as the lead writer and scripts from Ryan Little and Matthew Chauncey.
