Ncuti Gatwa nominated for BAFTA Scotland Audience Award for his Doctor Who performance

Ncuti Gatwa is one of six nominees for the BAFTA Scotland Audience Award for his performance as the fifteenth Doctor in Series Two of Doctor Who.

Gatwa received the nomination for “revitalising the character with distinctive flair.”

The nominees are selected by a jury panel of experts. The six shortlisted nominees represent the broad spectrum of Scottish screen talent whom audiences love to watch. Gatwa is competing with Ashley Jensen (Shetland), Gary Lamont (Rivals), Kiran Sonia Sawar (Slow Horses), Richard Rankin (Rebus) and Sheli McCoy (Gladiators).

The BAFTA Scotland Audience Award is now in it’s sixth year. Previous winners have included Lawrence Chaney (RuPaul’s Drag Race), Sam Heughan (Outlander), Lauren Lyle (Karen Pirie), and Ashley Storrie (Dinosaur).

The 2025 BAFTA Scotland Awards will take place on Sunday 16 November 2025, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central. The ceremony begins at 5:30pm BT. The event will be broadcast on BBC Scotland and BBC iPlayer in the UK, with an edited highlights program scheduled for Wednesday 19 November. The ceremony will be streamed live on the BAFTA YouTube channel.
