The Crown has infamously been Netflix’s most expensive series to date, with the Matt Smith and Claire Foy-headlined show earning no shortage of plaudits. Now, though, the company behind it is switching its attention to a science fiction series.

It’s working on a show called Origin, that’s being co-produced with Midnight Radio, China International Television Corporation and Sony Pictures Television. Penned by Mika Watkins, it’ll centre on a collection of relative strangers who are stranded on a shift heading for a planet some way away.

The show will debut on YouTube’s subscription service, YouTube Red, and ten episodes have been commissioned. They’ll be released on the service sometime in 2018.
