The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf has an official trailer ahead of release later this month
The new Witcher anime arrives on Netflix August 23, and to keep anticipation high, we’ve an official trailer to watch. Nightmare of the Wolf was one of several topics at the recent SDCC @Home, and is the origin story of Geralt’s mentor and fellow witcher, Vesemir.
The trailer, while focussing on Vesemir, does give a good sense of the process witchers have to survive to gain their powers, but soon moves forward to adventure, magic and monsters. Netflix gives us this as the logline for the series:
Before Geralt, there was Vesemir —a cocky young witcher who delights in slaying monsters for coin. When a dangerous new power rises on the Continent, Vesemir learns that some witchering jobs are about more than just money…
There’s a little more detail on the show’s intentions as well:
The world of The Witcher expands in this anime origin story: Before Geralt, there was his mentor Vesemir — a swashbuckling young witcher who escaped a life of poverty to slay monsters for coin. But when a strange new monster begins terrorising a politically-fraught kingdom, Vesemir finds himself on a frightening adventure that forces him to confront the demons of his past.
