The Partygate documentary centres on two fictional Special Advisors played by Ophelia Lovibond and Georgie Henley.
With investigations into Downing Street social events during the pandemic still going strong, Channel 4 are airing a factual drama.
Based on meticulous research, Partygate tells the story through dramatic re-enactments, interweaved with archive news footage and documentary interviews. The aim is to “juxtapose the revelry inside the nation’s seat of power with the hardship and sacrifice being experienced across the rest of the country.”
Georgie Henley (The Diplomat) and Ophelia Lovibond (Minx) lead the cast as fictional special advisors Grace Greenwood and Annabel D’acre. Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson also makes a guest appearance, played by impressionist Jon Culshaw.
The wider cast includes Phil Daniels, Rebecca Humphries, Hugh Skinner (The Windsors), Charlotte Ritchie (Ghosts), Craig Parkinson, Tom Durant-Pritchard, Anthony Calf, Alice Lowe, Kimberly Nixon, Alice Orr-Ewing, Naomi Battrick and Edwin Flay.
The documentary comes from the team behind the BAFTA-winning dramas Killed by my Debt and Murdered by my Father.
Partygate comes to Channel 4 on Tuesday 3rd October at 9.30pm
