The BBC is pressing ahead with a pilot episode of a new comedy called Static, for which it’s recruited Poldark’s Phil Davis to star.
He’s going to be playing a man who gives up his high-paying job in the city to go and live with his wife and children. Turns out, though, that their new abode is a caravan park in Margate.
A half hour pilot for Static is set to film over the summer, although no further casting information has been revealed at this time. The only extra information we have at the moment is what Davis told the Radio Times. He revealed that his character “decides to give up the rat race and rings them up and he wants to come back but they tell him where they are living – and his bed is a pull out sofa on this caravan”.
He also promises that Static is “very funny”.
More news on the show in due course. Once it has the pilot in the can, the BBC then will make its call on whether to take it to a full series.
