It may have failed to charm sufficient audiences to get a recommission on Disney+, but the charming magical fantasy series Renegade Nell is now available to a wider audience due to a hookup with ITVX.
It’s not first time shows have made this leap, with the terrific Extraordinary and the medieval detective adaptation Shardlake, both cut short by the streamer, also making the leap.
The story follows Derry Girls‘ Louisa Harland as Nell Jackson, a quick-witted and courageous young woman who finds herself framed for murder and unexpectedly becomes the most notorious outlaw in 18th-century England.

Joined by a diminutive magical spirit named Billy Blind (Nick Mohammed), she and her family are soon caught up in an adventure which holds implications for the realm.
Alongside Harland and Mohammed, the cast includes a host of familar faces including Joely Richardson, Pip Torrens and Craig Parkinson. Plus, the chilling villainy of Adrian Lester as the scheming Earl of Poynton.

Renegade Nell comes from writer Sally Wainwright (Gentleman Jack, Happy Valley) and lead director Ben Taylor (Sex Education).
You can find all eight episodes of Renegade Nell streaming for free on ITVX, and it’s definitely well worth a watch (or a rewatch!)
