The actor will play an amateur sleuth named Darby Hart in the ‘limited series’.
Emma Corrin, best known for their award-winning role as Princess Diana in The Crown, has landed the lead role in Retreat, from The OA creators Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij.
First reported by Deadline, Retreat is described thus:
“Retreat is a radical conceptualization of the whodunit with a new kind of detective at the helm — a gen Z amateur sleuth named Darby Hart. Darby and 11 other guests are invited by a reclusive billionaire to participate in a Retreat at a remote and dazzling location. When one of the other guests is found dead, Darby must fight to prove it was murder against a tide of competing interests and before the killer takes another life.”
The FX show will be written and directed by Marling and Batmanglij, who will produce with Andrea Sperling.
Rising star
This is another high-profile gig for Emma Corrin, whose star is certainly ascendance. Since The Crown, they have landed roles in the BBC’s upcoming “female focussed” adaptation of Lady Chatterley’s Lover, as well the Michael Grandage film My Policeman opposite Harry Styles for Amazon Studios.
They have also appeared in Grantchester, as well as the first season of the Batman prequel series Pennyworth and the 2020 movie Misbehaviour, about the infamous 1970 Miss World contest.
We look forward to Retreat, wherever it lands in the UK, and discovering what a “gen Z amateur sleuth” is!
