The Aussie Death in Paradise spin-off is coming back for another set of sun-drenched murder mysteries.

After a bit of a wait, we now know that Return to Paradise, the Australian Paraverse series, is returning.

The BBC have confirmed the start of filming on series 2 in the Illawarra coastal region, Sydney’s northern beaches, and across the city.

The series follows the investigation of Detective Sergeant Mackenzie ‘Mack’ Clarke (Anna Samson), who’s longing to get back to the UK and the life she’s always craved.

However, for now, she’s stuck in Dolphin Cove, dodging her ex-fiancée Glenn’s (Tai Hara) upcoming wedding after overhearing his unexpected declaration of love in the series one finale – a confession that she can’t unhear.

Across the new run, Mack and her team will tackle a range of murder cases. They involve the literary world, state-of-the-art shark labs, dating apps and rock concerts.

However, Mack’s biggest challenge of all is finding a way to exist in Dolphin Cove as the ultimate outsider.

The cast

Joining Anna Sampson and Tai Hara, the returning cast includes Lloyd Griffith, Catherine McClements, Celia Ireland, Andrea Demetriades and Aaron McGrath.

The guest star line-up includes Australian screen stars Danielle Cormack, Meyne Wyatt, Roz Hammond, Justine Clarke, Michelle Lim Davidson, Greg Stone, Zoe Carides, Simon Lyndon and Miah Madden. Tim Rogers, the iconic lead singer of Australian pop power band You Am I also guest stars.

Plus, Ardal O’Hanlon, again returns to reprise his Death in Paradise role as DI Jack Mooney. Hopefully, he’ll enjoy a taste of the sunshine this time rather than just being down the phone!

Return to Paradise is commissioned by the ABC in Australia, in association with the BBC. It comes from BBC Studios Productions Australia and Red Planet Pictures.

We’ll keep you posted on Return to Paradise series 2. Based on 2024’s pattern, we might expect to see the new series in November.

In the meantime, you can revisit the sunshine of Series 1 on BBC iPlayer. All the episodes of both Death in Paradise and Beyond Paradise are there too.
