Rivals – the Jilly Cooper adaptation romps into season 2

Posted Filed under

Don’t pack your shoulder pads away, the exploits of Rupert Campbell-Black will continue in Rivals season 2.

One of this year’s outrageous hits has been Rivals.

Based on the 80’s novel by Dame Jilly Cooper, one of her series of Rutshire Chronicles, its heady mix of sex, jealousy and independent television franchises has proved a winning combination on both sides of the Atlantic.

Now the show has the official nod to continue for season 2:

Dame Jilly Cooper said: “Nearly 40 years after my novel Rivals was published, I’ve adored seeing the world fall in love with my beloved characters – Rutshire’s Finest.

“And it has been a fairytale come true working with Happy Prince and Disney+ on the first season. I’m orgasmic with excitement and cannot wait for the return of my superhero Rupert Campbell-Black and the rest of the characters in season two!”

Rivals stars David Tennant, alongside Alex Hassell, Aidan Turner, Katherine Parkinson, Claire Rushbrook and a host of British acting talent.

There’s no suggestion of a timescale for Rivals season 2 hitting our screens. We imagine that cast availability might play a part.

The show comes from Happy Prince, part of ITV Studios. We’ll keep you posted.
