The first trailer for Dexter Fletcher’s upcoming Elton John biopic, Rocketman, featuring Kingsman star Taron Egerton as the music icon has landed…
From the looks of the trailer it seems like Fletcher – who replaced Bryan Singer in another music biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, about Queen frontman Freddie Mercury – is taking a more fantastical approach to the life of John. He’s assembled a strong cast, too, in the form of Jamie Bell, Richard Madden, Gemma Jones and Bryce Dallas Howard.
Back in May, Egerton had a chat with Collider and insisted the film wasn’t a biopic. “Everyone thinks it’s a biopic!” he said. “It isn’t. It’s a fantasy musical so it’s actually his songs used to express important beats in his life at emotional moments. He’s not the only character that sings. It’s going to be fun.”

With the calibre of talent on board Rocketman seems like one to watch out for when it premieres next year.
Rocketman will open in cinemas on May 31st 2019.
