Outlander star Sam Heughan (who plays Jamie Fraser) appeared on this morning’s Zoe Ball Breakfast Show to talk about his new book Clanlands. Of course, Zoe (and fans) also took the opportunity to ask about the next season of Outlander and Sam gave the news all fans will be glad to hear:
“We’re gearing up, we’ve been receiving scripts and doing costume fittings… we should be back at it in the New Year.”
Sam also took the chance to mention just some of the highlight of the show so far and how far the characters have travelled beyond Scotland, including Versailles, the Caribbean and more recently the formation of modern America. Responding to a fan question he also revealed his favourite filming location across the show’s history. No spoilers here, you’ll have to listen to the Zoe Ball show (link below).
As to the book Clanlands, it promises Whisky, Warfare and a Scottish Adventure Like No Other, which sounds like another great season of Outlander to us! Clearly something to get for Christmas and read alongside enjoying Men In Kilts, the roadtrip we first reported on in June. It’s co-written with fellow actor Graham McTavish who plays Dougal Mackenzie in the show (and also played Father Kinley in Season 4 of Lucifer). Clanlands starts in Glencoe and charts their journey to Inverness and the battle field of Culloden. Their adventures bring them a deeper understanding of their country’s history and rich culture.
As to Men in Kilts itself, it will be shown in the UK, but no details yet. He also talked about filming his new film Text For You, in which appears alongside Céline Dion.
If you want to hear Sam in conversation with Zoe, the show is available here on iPlayer for 29 days. Sam Heughan is on from 2:08. More news on Season 6 of Outlander as we get it.
