Sanditon 2 has started filming in and around Burnham-on-Sea, with both returning cast and some new faces
We reported the revival of Sanditon by Red Planet Pictures / Britbox back in May, and now we’re delighted to tell you about the cast as filming starts in the Burnham-on-Sea area.
Thanks to the show’s Twitter (@Sanditon) we know all these cast are back for (at least) season 2: Rose Williams, Anne Reid, Kris Marshall, Kate Ashfield, Crystal Clarke, Jack Fox, Charlotte Spencer, Lily Sacofsky, Turlough Convery, Kevin Eldon and Adrian Scarborough. This came with the following text:
Get ready for new romances and new challenges in Sanditon!
New cast and others for Sanditon 2
The same source also revealed some new (or ones who appeared briefly) faces for Sanditon 2: Maxim Ays (series 1, one episode) as Capt William Carter, Ben Lloyd-Hughes (Divergent, War & Peace) as Alexander Colbourne, Alexander Vlahos (Merkin, Versailles, Dorian Gray) as Charles Lockhart, Tom Weston-Jones (Warrior) as Colonel Francis Lennox, Rosie Graham (Outlander and series 1) as Alison Heywood and Frank Blake (series 1) as Capt Declan Fraser.
Vlahos’ character is official described as flamboyant artist Charles Lockhart, who arrives to paint portraits of Sanditon‘s wealthy elites — we note his picture comes with the following quote:
Charles is a mad hedonistic character who shakes up Sanditon…
Given his track record, anything is possible! We look forward to finding out.
Filming has started on Brean Beach, near Burnham-on-Sea, where a lot of series 1 was filmed. Local news site Burnham-on-Sea.com has some details, including:
The story will pick up nine months after the events of the first series, with Sanditon growing in popularity, but the secrets of the dysfunctional Denham family continue to be a threat to its future…
We’ll keep you up to date as Sanditon 2 moves through production.
