Sky Arts brings National Theatre Live productions to television

Two Sherlocks take a turn at playing the Creature and Victor Frankenstein. 

Sky Arts has announced that it has picked up four National Theatre Live performances for broadcast in the coming weeks. National Theatre Live has been running for over 15 years, and regularly brings bringing stage performances to a wider audience in cinemas.

The National Theatre Live shows coming to Sky Arts are:

Othello – 18th February, 9 PM 

An extraordinary new production of Shakespeare’s most enduring tragedy, directed by Clint Dyer with a cast that includes Giles Terera (Hamilton), Rosy McEwen (The Alienist), and Paul Hilton (The Inheritance).

The Crucible – 25th February, 9 PM 

A witch hunt is beginning in Arthur Miller’s captivating parable of power with Erin Doherty (The Crown) and Brendan Cowell (Yerma). Lyndsey Turner (Hamlet) directs this contemporary new staging filmed live at the National Theatre.

Frankenstein – 4tn March, 9 PM & 11th March, 9 PM

Written by Nick Dear, based on the novel by Mary Shelley. Directed by Academy Award-winner Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire), featuring Benedict Cumberbatch (Hamlet, Sherlock) and Jonny Lee Miller (Elementary, Trainspotting).

The 2011 famously has two versions. On 4th March, Jonny Lee Miller plays the Creature and Benedict Cumberbatch is Victor Frankenstein, on 11th March, the two stars swap roles.
