Ethan Peck made a big impression as Spock in Star Trek: Discovery’s second season, as did Anston Mount’s Christopher Pike, but showrunner Alex Kurtzman is aware that bringing them back “wouldn’t make sense” at the moment…
Speaking to Deadline, Kurtzman said this: “I would be remiss in saying you’re going to see Spock again on Discovery because we’ve obviously jumped so far into the future that it wouldn’t make sense… But the idea of bringing Ethan [Peck] back and Anson [Mount] and Rebecca [Romijn, who plays Number One] and the Enterprise, I mean, we loved it so much and to find a way to do that is definitely something we’re thinking about.”
Given that the ending of Star Trek: Discovery season 2 saw the main crew thrust forward in time into the far-flung future, Michael Burnham and co are currently very far removed from Spock and Pike’s place in the timeline. That’s basically the gist of what Kurtzman is saying.
However, it does sound like they’re talking about ideas of how to bring the Enterprise crew and the Discovery crew back together at some point down the line. Perhaps we’ll have to wait for Burnham et al to return to their proper place in the timeline? We’ll just have to wait and see what happens in Star Trek: Discovery season 3…
