Season 3 of Star Trek Discovery has only just started on NetFlix (episode 4 is due Friday the 6th), but filming has started for Season 4.
Star Trek Discovery was due to begin filming on November 2, and as if on cue, various members of the production and cast have been tweeting. Write Michelle Paradise marked the occasion with a GIF of Discovery using the spore drive, while we also heard from actor Doug Jones (@actordougjones) who plays Saru:
Back to my under-Saru look, as season 4 of @startrekcbs Discovery begins filming this week! No one makes me do this, it’s my own decision to save the extra step and time of bald capping before my Kelpien prosthetics are applied.
If you follow through to the tweet, you’ll see Doug does, indeed, have all his hair removed to reduce the time in make-up for his character. It inspired a lot of fan questions about prosthetics and the impact of glue on skin with extensive filming.
Saru aside, we also know Sonequa Martin-Green will be returning, though she has yet to post about filming. Sonequa was pregnant while filming season 3, and gave birth to her Saraiyah Chaunté Green on July 19 (her second child).
Who else from Discovery’s crew will be back? We at CultBox can’t imagine Star Trek Discovery without Ensign Tilly (surely overdue a promotion?), though Mary Wiseman hasn’t (yet) shared any information from production.
More news as we get it.
