Game of Thrones star Rory McCann is reportedly taking on the late Ray Stevenson’s role as the former Jedi in Ahsoka.
In 2023’s Star Wars television series Ahsoka, alongside seeing animated Star Wars: Rebels heroes in live-action, one of the most interesting characters was that of the fallen Jedi Baylan Skoll.
Working for the Nightsisters, and by association Grand Admiral Thrawn, he appeared to be pursuing his own agenda. We last saw Skoll striking out to explore the mysteries of remote planet of Peridea once Thrawn had departed.
Sadly, Ray Stevenson, who brought Baylan Skoll to life, passed away suddenly after filming but before the series aired. Now, in news from The InSneider and reported widely, Rory McCann is taking on the character of the seemingly sinister force wielder for Ahsoka season 2.
McCann starred as Sandor “The Hound” Clegane in seven seasons of Game of Thrones. However, he has a wider back catalogue which includes roles in Hot Fuzz, Jumanji: The Next Level. Most recently, he appeared in Ridley Scott’s Gladiator II as Tegula, leader of the Praetorian Guard.
Physically imposing and with plenty of personality, he’s an interesting choice for the restrained Skoll. We look forward to seeing where he takes the character.
Ahsoka Season 2 films in the coming months, with a potential release in late 2025 or early 2026.
We’ll keep you posted.
