Stuntman Brendan Wayne spoke about plans for the next run
Talking to the Star Wars Sessions podcast, he dropped a few tidbits about the forthcoming third series about the man in the mask:
“I think we’ve introduced the world in which Mando exists now. Not that there aren’t going to be new things, I’m sure… I think there will be a lot less introductions, and a lot more going back towards the first season of delving deeper into the character and things like that I think.”
However, he also admitted he’s yet to read a script and was guessing, but was keen to assure fans the show is in safe hands, adding:
“But I can tell you this. If anyone’s going to be able to continue telling a story, it’s Jon [Favreau]. And raising the stakes? It’s Jon.”
The Book of Boba Fett
The Mandalorian Series 3 is a long way off though, as The Book of Boba Fett will air first. It has recently wrapped filming and been dubbed “The Mandalorian 2.5” in some places. Wayne also talked about a harder tone for the spin-off show, showcasing the true nature of the fan favourite:
“I think that’s what we as an audience, I think, are going to get from The Book of Boba Fett,” Wayne explained. “A lot more of that kinda feel. He gets even grittier than Mando did. I feel like he doesn’t have the choice because he really was a different kind of character.”
ComicBook.com recently interviewed the show’s Ming-Na Wen, who plays fellow Bounty Hunter Fennec Shand, and she teased that different tone too, noting that while the Mandalorian works alone, while Boba and Fennec have that “team dynamic”.
The Book of Boba Fett is set to drop in December 2021, while The Mandalorian Series 3 remains some time in the future. Quite how the filming fits into Pedro Pascal’s schedule, given his commitment to the lengthy shoot of The Last of Us, which has just begun, remains to be seen.
As ever, Cultbox will keep you posted.
