The second series of Top Of The Lake is edging closer, with the BBC now confirming a transmission date for the drama’s return.

The second series goes by the name Top Of The Lake: China Girl, and it sees Elisabeth Moss taking on the role of Detective Robin Griffin. She’s back in Sydney in the new run, hunting for the daughter she gave up for adoption 17 years prior. However, the body of a young woman is washed up on Bondi beach, and she finds herself embroiled in a case and a half.

Nicole Kidman is back, playing said daughter’s adoptive mother, and also in the cast are Gwendoline Christie and Alice Englert.

Top Of The Lake: China Girl – from Jane Campion – will start on BBC Two on July 27th. A 9pm transmission slot has been confirmed.
