Peacock open the doors of the Vampire Academy on September 16th.
Sky’s hook-up with the Peacock, the NBC/Universal streamer continues to bear fruit.
One of the latest shows to make it across the pond is Vampire Academy. Based on Richelle Mead’s YA book series, the story centres on a boarding school, St. Vladimir’s Academy, where vampire royals are educated and half-human teens train to protect them.
Here’s the premise for Vampire Academy:
In a world of privilege and glamour, two young women’s friendship transcends their strikingly different classes as they prepare to complete their education and enter vampire society. One as a powerful Royal, the other a half-vampire Guardian trained to protect against the savage ‘Strigoi’ who threaten to tear their society apart. That is, if Royal infighting doesn’t do the job first.
The show comes from a pair of executive producers who have ample form in the genre; both Julie Plec and Marguerite MacIntyre worked on The Vampire Diaries. This is a fresh take on the material which was first adapted into a movie for Netflix back in 2014.
The series stars Sisi Stringer (Mortal Kombat), Daniela Nieves (Snowfall), Kieron Moore (Sex Education), Andre Dae Kim (Locke & Key), J. August Richards (Agents of Shield), Anita-Joy Uwajeh (Lucky Man), Mia Mckenna-Bruce (Persuasion), Rhian Blundell (Nobody Girl), Jonetta Kaiser (Tales) and Andrew Liner (Grown-ish).
Vampire Academy will drop four episodes on 16th September, with the series’ remaining six instalments releasing weekly.
