Debbie ‘The Chosen One’ (Martha Howe-Douglas) is whisked back into the madcap world of Yonderland as the from the lead cast of Horrible Histories returns. This time, things get tougher for Debbie, the married mum of two and the cherry-picked saviour of Yonderland’s eccentric population, as she faces a harder-than-ever battle to keep her home life and duty to the magical realm separate.
However, as hubby Peter starts to grow paranoid about the weird goings on in his kitchen cupboards, on the other side of the portal, danger lurks for ‘Debbie of Maddox’ and the all-seeing, all-knowing Elders as Debbie’s evil nemesis Imperatrix plots her capture, as well as the destruction of Yonderland.
There’s panic in the fantastical kingdom in the first episode of the opening double bill as Imperatrix’s presence brings rioting to the streets and sends the Elders into lockdown. With the population spiralling out of control, it falls to ‘The Chosen One’ to stop the chaos.
Meanwhile, back in Debbie and her family’s world, a strange old man sends her a bizarre package from his deathbed that promises to change everything. Later, a murder at the Meadowlands Festival calls for the (not so genius) mind of Yonderland’s finest (or, rather, only) detective. Negatus endures the Imperial equivalent of an Ofsted inspection from Imperatrix’s number two. And, Peter starts to suspect that something very strange is going on in his house.
