It might only be March, but Netflix have started to unwrap details of its Richard Curtis penned festive treat.
That Christmas, written by Richard Curtis and adapted from his own series of children’s books, is an animated feature which boasts an impressive roster of vocal talent.
In the animated film, Brian Cox (Succession) will play Santa. He’s joined by Fiona Shaw as Ms. Trapper, Jodie Whittaker as Mrs. Williams and Bill Nighy as Bill. They’re the residents of a charming seaside town where things turn upside down one Christmas.
Here’s the synopsis:
That Christmas follows a series of entwined tales about family and friends, love and loneliness, and Santa Claus making a big mistake, not to mention an enormous number of turkeys.
Also, in the cast are – take a breath – Lolly Adefope, Alex Macqueen, Katherine Parkinson, Sindhu Vee, India Brown, Zazie Hayhurst, Sienna Sayer, Jack Wisniewski, Rosie Cavaliero, Paul Kaye, Guz Khan, Andy Nyman, Kuhu Agarwal, Bronte Smith, Freddie Spry, Ava Talbot, and Rhys Darby.
The film is the feature directing debut of animator Simon Otto (Love, Death & Robots, How to Train Your Dragon). The score comes from composer John Powell (Happy Feet, Shrek).
That Christmas comes from Locksmith Animation (Ron’s Gone Wrong), with animation production from DNEG. Nicole P. Hearon (Moana, Frozen) and Adam Tandy (The Thick of It, Detectorists) produce.
While there’s no date yet, it’s a fair bet That Christmas will land before the end of the year.
