Reports suggest a season 2 for Keely Hawes / Freddie Highmore series The Assassin — here’s what we know so far

Earlier this year, The Assassin hit Prime Video and quickly became Amazon Prime Video’s highest-rated UK original drama of 2025 when it premiered in July, according to official seven-day Barb viewing figures. Now Deadline reports The Assassin season 2 is being developed, and the omens look good.

The same report tells us the first episode was watched by a high of 1.6M viewers, putting it comfortably ahead of the best-performing episodes of other Prime Video UK dramas this year.

If you’ve yet to watch, the follows retired professional killer Julie (Keeley Hawes) and her estranged son Edward (Highmore) as they are forced to work together in a fight for survival on a remote Greek island. It’s more than a little James Bond, packed with action and glorious locations.

The six-part series was written and created by Harry and Jack Williams (The Tourist), with additional writers including Krissie Ducker (Killing Eve), Hamish Wright (Significant Other), and Selina Lim (Sex Education). As soon as we learn more, we’ll bring you the news.
