The thriller stars Eddie Redmayne as the lone assassin, with Lashana Lynch as the intelligence officer determined to catch him.
Sky and Peacock’s adaptation of The Day of the Jackal has launched to critical acclaim and impressive viewing figures on both sides of the Atlantic.
The story, famously the bases for a 1973 movie (and a less fondly remembered 1997 remake), draws on a Frederick Forsyth thriller. As a ten-part television series, it’s become the biggest Sky Original launch in two years, drawing an audience of 3 million in its first week. Stateside, it ranks #1 on Peacock’s top 10 tv shows too.
Now, there’s news that the show is to continue into a second season.
However, with five episodes dropped at launch, and the first season building to a two-part finale on 12th December, it’s unclear if the current storyline will wrap up or stop on an almighty cliffhanger. Surely the smart money is on the latter?
You can find The Day of the Jackal on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW in the UK.
