The show draws inspiration from the works of Edgar Allan Poe.
Netflix have released an official trailer for its upcoming horror series The Fall of the House of Usher.
The series, from director/writer/producer Mike Flanagan, is set to be his fifth series and final collaboration with the streamer. Their previous works together have included The Haunting at Hill House, The Haunting at Bly Manor and Midnight Mass.
Taking Edgar Allan Poe’s 1839 short story of the same name as a starting point, the show promises to bring a fresh twist on the tale. It will also weave in references to many of Poe’s other classic tales too.
According to Netflix’s Tudum, the horror drama follows Roderick Usher (Bruce Greenwood), the CEO of a corrupt pharmaceutical company, who must face his shady past when each of his children begin to die in mysterious and brutal fashion.
With a mix of familiar stars from Flanagan’s other work, as well as some fresh faces, there’s quite an ensemble. It includes Carla Gugino, Mary McDonnell, Willa Fitzgerald, Carl Lumbly, Mark Hamill, Henry Thomas, Crystal Balint, Kyliegh Curran, Samantha Sloyan, Matt Biedel, Kate Siegel, Rahul Kohli, Daniel Jun, T’Nia Miller, Paola Núñez, Sauriyan Sapkota and Ruth Codd.
Running to eight episodes, The Fall of the House of Usher comes from Intrepid Pictures. Mike Flanagan directs four episodes, as does Michael Fimognari. The executive producers include Trevor Macy and Mike Flanagan of Intrepid Pictures; Emmy Grinwis and Michael Fimognari.
The show arrives at Netflix on October 12th, 2023.
