It’s our first look at season 2, which begins with a five-year time jump…
In celebration of “The Last of Us” Day on September 26th – the in-universe day that the cordyceps virus catalysed and kicked off the zombie apocalypse – there’s a teaser for the show’s quickly confirmed second run.
After its record-breaking launch, the most-watched first season for an HBO show, the follow up season lands in 2025.
Here’s the (pretty generic) logline for The Last of Us season 2:
After five years of peace following the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie’s collective past catches up to them, drawing them into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.
The show’s returning cast includes Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, and Rutina Wesley as Maria.
Joining then are Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac. Plus, Catherine O’Hara will also guest star.
The show has also debuted new artwork:
The Last of US comes from writers and executive producers Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. The series is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television and is also executive produced by Carolyn Strauss, Jacqueline Lesko, Cecil O’Connor, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, and Evan Wells. The production companies are PlayStation Productions, Word Games, The Mighty Mint, and Naughty Dog.
In the UK, the show airs on Sky Atlantic and stream on NOW.
