Disney+ is celebrating more success for The Mandalorian — the show is the third most watched in the (US) streaming charts
The Nielsen Top 10 has been running since August 2020 and The Mandalorian is only the second Disney+ show to make the list, the first being Mulan. The figures reflect all viewings of any episodes of the show and is the week (26 October – 1 November) when episode 1 of season 2 (Chapter 9 – The Marshall) came available. If you look at the table (see the link previously), in that week just over one billion minutes of The Mandalorian in fact 1.03 billion. It’s also interesting to see all nine other positions went to Netflix shows, with 1.85 billion minutes accumulated for Anya Tarlor-Joy and The Queen’s Gambit. The rest of the Top 10 is dominated by crime shows with the odd comedy and Great British Baking Show propping up the foot of the table with a mere half-a-billion or so minutes.
Nielsen has also added a video on the page with more insight into the charts. We assume Disney+ has held its presence in the charts on the evidence of all the media focus we’ve seen on the latest season of the show.
