She is taking on The Penguin in the spin-off from Matt Reeves The Batman.
According to Deadline, HBO Max have cast Cristin Milioti (Palm Springs, Black Mirror‘s ‘USS Callister’) for their upcoming series about The Penguin.
The show, spinning out of Matt Reeves’ The Batman, and starring Colin Farrell, will expand upon the story of the villain.
Milioti is playing Sofia Falcone, daughter of John Turturro’s Carmine Falcone in the movie. Her character will be fighting with Farrell’s Oswald Copplepot as the show charts his rise to power in Gotham’s underworld; Farrell was almost unrecognisable under three hours of makeup to play the role.
The Penguin television series, yet to be officially titled, comes from writer Lauren LeFranc (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.). Matt Reeves also executive produces, with LeFranc, Farrell, Dylan Clark and Craig Zobel. Zobel (Mare of Easttown) is directing the first two episodes.
According to Collider, the show begins filming in New York City in January, with production running though until Summer 2023. We imagine this means a 2024 release date.
Cristin Milioti
Currently playing the lead in The Resort, a dark comedy on streamer Peacock, Cristin Milioti came onto our radar for a couple of roles; firstly, as Nanette in Black Mirror’s ‘USS Callister’, then opposite Andy Samberg in the 2020 time-loop comedy Palm Springs.
She’s also enjoyed roles on How I Met Your Mother, Fargo and in Prime Video’s Modern Love. Plus, opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street.
We’ll keep you posted on The Penguin television series.
And just as a reminder, here’s the trailer for the brilliant Palm Springs (which is on Prime Video in the UK).
